چکیده

5′ → 3′ WK-automata are Watson-Crick automata whose two heads start on opposite ends of the input word and always run in opposite directions. One full reading in both directions is called a run. We prove that the automatas’ power increases with every run more they can make. This defines an infinite hierarchy of language classes between the regular and the context-sensitive languages. This hierarchy is complemented with classes defined by several restricted variants of 5′ → 3′ WK-automata like stateless automata. Finally we show that the emptiness and the finiteness problems are undecidable for languages accepted by 5′ → 3′ WK-automata in only one run.

5′→ 3′ Sensing Watson-Crick Finite Automata

DNA computers provide new paradigms of computing (Păun et al., 1998). They appeared at the end of the last century. In contrast, the theory of finite automata is well developed and intensively used in both theory and practice. The Watson-Crick automata, introduced in (Freund et al., 1997), relate to both fields. They are important in the field of (DNA) computing and have important relation to f...

On the power of parallel communicating Watson-Crick automata systems

Parallel communicating Watson-Crick automata systems were introduced in [2] as possible models of DNA computations. This combination of Watson-Crick automata and parallel communicating systems comes as a natural extension due to the new developments in DNA manipulation techniques. It is already known, see [5], that for Watson-Crick finite automata, the complementarity relation plays no active r...

Equivalence of Subclasses of Two-Way Non-Deterministic Watson Crick Automata

Watson Crick automata are finite automata working on double strands. Extensive research work has already been done on non deterministic Watson Crick automata and on deterministic Watson Crick automata. Parallel Communicating Watson Crick automata systems have been introduced by E. Czeziler et al. In this paper we discuss about a variant of Watson Crick automata known as the two-way Watson Crick...

Parallel Communicating Watson-Crick Automata Systems

Watson-Crick automata are finite state automata working on doublestranded tapes, introduced to investigate the potential of DNA molecules for computing. In this paper we introduce the concept of parallel communicating Watson-Crick automata systems. It consists of several Watson-Crick finite automata parsing independently the same input and exchanging information on request, by communicating sta...

A New Sensing 5'->3' Watson-Crick Automata Concept

Watson-Crick (WK) finite automata are working on a Watson-Crick tape, that is, on a DNA molecule. Therefore, it has two reading heads. While in traditional WK automata both heads read the whole input in the same physical direction, in 5′→ 3′ WK automata the heads start from the two extremes and read the input in opposite direction. In sensing 5′ → 3′ WK automata the process on the input is fini...
